The Three Options
Used car buyers now face a real choice between gas, hybrid, and electric powertrains. Each has trade-offs.
Gas
The familiar choice. Cheapest upfront, and repairs can be done anywhere. Fuel economy has improved a lot, but you'll still pay more at the pump.
Hybrid
No plugging in required, just better mileage - many hybrids hit 40-50 mpg. The battery adds complexity, but Toyota and Honda hybrids have proven very reliable over the long haul.
Electric
Cheapest to run, but range and charging access matter. Used EVs have dropped in price, but battery health is critical - check the inspection report carefully.
How to Choose
Match the powertrain to your driving. Mostly highway? A gas or hybrid works great. City driving with home charging? An EV might save you real money.
